The law firms have traditionally been interested in hiring tax professionals for specialist areas such as indirect taxes, share schemes and tax litigation. This continues to be the case, but another area of interest has become transfer pricing, because it is a discrete practice which can sit alongside a mainstream corporate tax practice, and dovetails well with tax litigation. The law firms have from time to time hired non-legally qualified mainstream corporate tax professionals, and it is anticipated that there will be an increased appetite for these candidates moving forward.
