Overview
Based in the Modena office, Tetra Pak are searching for a ‘Custom Duty and Export Control Officer to sit in the ‘Logistics for Capital Equipment team’. This newly created position will report into the Director of Logistics for Capital Equipment and, will provide support for the operation and co-ordination of three thousand shipments per year to seventy five destinations.
The Custom Duty and Export Control Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all direct imported/exported products are compliant with regulations in the most cost effective manner for on-time delivery.
You will also be responsible for seeking out improvement opportunities in the trade flow of all products through the supply chain, optimizing sourcing decisions and utilization of available free trade agreements opportunities.
Specific Responsibilities
· Monitors import/export documentation process and compliance including monitoring import/export regulations and ensuring compliance with changes and new requirements;
· Participate in the development and implementation of import/export compliance processes and procedures;
· Communicates import/export compliance policies and procedures by way of Company-wide and supplier training programs;
· Manage periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct customers of the process;
· Ensures compliance with import/export regulations with regard to proper classification, valuation, origin rules, free trade agreements, documentation and recordkeeping (such as, up to date product classifications list, HTD codes, Duty, etc.);
· Ensure that export control routines in SCO CE are followed and relevant processes are followed and updated;
· Maintain relationships on behalf of Tetra Pak across jurisdictions
· Monitors and resolves daily import/export compliance issues;
· Monitors trade agreements eligibility, reporting, and compliance;
· Remains up-to-date on Import/ Export Administration Regulations and communicates regulatory changes;
· Monitors and resolves testing compliance for State and other regulations.
Requirements
· University degree (or equivalent)
· Fluent English
· A good command of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
· Skilled in data analysis techniques
· Solid experience and strong understanding of free trade agreements, export control, custom duties, tariff code and HTSUS classification and interpretation and import/export compliance and global logistics
· The ability to research, document and negotiate freight rates.
