The indirect tax job

Your client responsibilities

• Working predominantly with our public sector VAT clients (in particular NHS Trust clients) you will be tasked with building and maintaining relationships with both clients and colleagues in other internal service lines and providing high levels of client service.
• You will assist in winning new work and growing the business by proactively managing existing clients and contributing to winning new clients, often in competitive tender situations against other firms
• You will manage the successful delivery of VAT projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical/business-driven approach is taken
• You will contribute to successfully extracting maximum value for both Ernst & Young and its clients from the VAT services delivered, identify possible cross-sell opportunities for other parts of the firm and manage risk appropriately for both the client and the firm

Your people responsibilities

• Managing/developing junior staff and leading project teams
• Experienced VAT practitioner with reviewing skills and expertise in VAT (ideally with some prior public sector and/or Health VAT experience)
• Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral (including presentations).
• Strong and motivated team player
• Client driven and strategically and commercially aware
• Enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work
• Qualified to one of the following levels:
  • ACA/ACCA/CA; or
  • Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course; or Law qualification
  • CTA (or breadth of knowledge equivalent to CTA)
