You will work closely with clients to build practical and creative approaches to devising remuneration and benefits strategies. As one of the largest specialist tax teams of its kind, this group offers expertise in remuneration planning, employment tax consulting and share schemes to FTSE 250 companies and household names amongst others.

The share schemes assistant manager/manager

As a Manager in this team, you will have overall responsibility for a portfolio of clients and will be able to develop and manage client relationships.  You will ensure that your team maintains excellent service delivery and technical standards in addition to seeking to develop new clients and offerings with support. 

As an Assistant Manager, you will be the first point of contact for clients, and be responsible for project management and ensuring the delivery of work.  You will manage more junior staff, as well as start to develop your own client base.

This team gets involved in a challenging variety of work including:

  • Considering commercial considerations in connection with the structure and design of executive and employee share plans
  • Considering the likely views of shareholders and discussing the impact of plans with them
  • Linking plan design to the wider business objectives of the organisation
  • Advising on the tax, corporate governance and accounting implications of incentive plans and bonuses for both the employer and the employee
  • Designing executive and employee incentive plans in the context of company sales, purchases, flotations and other transactions
  • Drafting share plan and related documentation
  • Liaising with our share valuation group to agree share values with HMRC
  • Meeting with and advising clients
  • Advising on international share plans

About you

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of share schemes, gained either in a large tax or law practice, or in an in-house compensation and benefits function.  However, if you are ACA qualified or equivalent qualification or experience in any area of tax, or in audit, and have a genuine interest in share schemes, we would be keen to discuss your application with you.

You will also have the following attributes:

  • Ability to work with and/or manage a varied portfolio of clients across a range of industry sectors
  • Be committed to providing the highest quality of client service and have the ability to build strong relationships, exceed client expectations and identify and follow up new business opportunities
  • Proven track record of managing and motivating a team; or a strong team player with some delegation experience
  • Have sound project management and organisational skills
  • Understanding of quality control and risk management processes
