The trust & estate manager job
Your role will be varied and see you taking responsibility for the following duties:
- The creation of settlements in accordance with the terms of the trust deed and the law
- Liaising with the HMRC solicitors and other agents as required
- The administration of settlements, including tax returns and when appropriate distribution of trust assets to the beneficiaries, dealing with CGT and IHT and tax certificates as required but excluding investment reviews
- The administration of charitable trusts including the payment of grants, the preparation and audit of annual accounts and submission of annual returns to the charity commissioners
- The administration of deceased's estates as executors or administrators of wills, codicils or on intestacy
- Dealing with the collection of and distribution of the assets, all taxation aspects. Ensuring that all debts, taxation and legacies are properly discharged and residue is distributed
- Preparing accounts, tax certificates and revenue returns
- Writing wills and codicils for customers, staff and pensioners (not a pre-requisite)
- Overseeing half-yearly and ad hoc investment reviews of the portfolios as provided by investment advisers and dealing as required
- Assist with staff training as appropriate with specific responsibility for staff who report directly; conduct individual staff appraisals as agreed including setting goals, targets and identification of training needs
- Ensuring an efficient and error free service to both external and internal customers, keep errors, complaints file, reporting as and when appropriate
About you
Ideally you will be STEP qualified or equivalent and possess a significant amount of experience within trusts and estates. Customer service is of paramount importance and an aspect that sets this private bank apart from others so it is crucial that the successful individual has a proven track record of excellence within this area. You will have extensive knowledge of legislation and tax regulation affecting trusts and estates. In addition, you will be hard-working and tenacious with strong communication skills.
