The senior consultant - VAT recovery role
Job Description
The Senior Consultant, VAT Recovery (“Senior Consultant”) works with a small team based in the London office to provide various consulting, compliance, and recovery services to clients in the United Kingdom, Europe, United States, and Canada.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides value-added tax (VAT) consulting services to worldwide clients by written advice, conference calls, video conferences, and meetings.
- Regularly uses Ryan’s bespoke software, eReview, to analyze large quantities of data to identify VAT recovery opportunities.
- Works with internal and client Information Technology personnel to extract Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data.
- Visits client premises (both domestic and in some cases international) to extract invoices, verify accounting treatment of transactions and present reports.
- Prepares formal correspondence to, and negotiates with, HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients.
- Drafts reports for clients on results of VAT recovery projects.
- Prepares status reports, internal updates, project trackers, and related documentation.
- Prepares VAT technical advice to a high standard.
- Coordinates VAT recovery projects with United States and European partners.
- Works with United States and Canadian colleagues on VAT-related queries and projects.
- Maintains involvement with compliance projects such as VAT registration and VAT return preparation.
- Maintains involvement with other International Tax Technology projects as required.
- Maintains involvement with Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and general business process reviews and documenting findings.
- Undertakes VAT technical research as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
About you
Desired Skills & Experience
Education and Experience:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with two to five years audit or VAT-related experience is required. CTA or equivalent is highly desirable.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft® Office product suite.
