The temp tax jobs market: what we're seeing in 2010

As expected, the market for interim tax professionals has continued to improve throughout the first half of 2010. Pure Interim placed 40 tax professionals into temporary and contract roles within commerce and industry, financial services and the profession between January and May 2010.
Financial services boom
Interestingly, the majority of our interim placements were made at the Tax Manager level and into corporate tax roles within the financial services and consumer services sectors. Specialist areas such as transfer pricing and VAT continue to remain active and it seems that the number of opportunities for International Tax Managers appear to be escalating once again.
Other signs of improvement
Aside from the financial services and consumer services sectors, other areas showing significant activity levels are property, real estate, oil and gas and consumer goods. The profession is also beginning to recruit again, on both an interim and a permanent basis which can only be considered as a promising sign that the market is continuing to improve.
